I never knew about this... was it associated with the church - New Salem Baptist? And look at these faces... I'd love some names!! Here is another photo I have seen before not knowing it was of a New Salem School in Jones Cove. Here is another picture of the New Salem School with someone named Sarah Dennis standing on steps.
My dad, Bobby Rolen, said the school was at the curve in Henry Town Road, just below the Williams Cemetery, where Jerry & Linda Baxter's home sits. I never knew the name of the schoolhouse that was there. Find the post about the online topos, open the oldest one, locate the school icon and that is most likely this school's location.
